Weekly Gratitude: Edition 6

Monday, September 12, 2011

It's been a while since I've made a Weekly Gratitude post, and I certainly have a ton to be thankful for, so let's get to it. Currently, I am most grateful for...
  • The most recent addition to our family, this beautiful 2008 Honda CR-V. I feel so blessed that we were able to buy this car. When we first moved to San Antonio, Carl and I were sharing his Civic. A few months later, I got a two-door Toyota Yaris, which was great for the time, but fast forward a year and add a rapidly-growing infant, and the Yaris no longer met our needs. Finally, we have something that safely accommodates our little family (including our big, 90-pound Lab) and I couldn't be happier. A huge thank you to my loving parents for helping us make this happen.
    ain't she a beaut?
  • Lily's wonderful caregivers. We were so fortunate to have found a clean, safe and affordable home daycare that's literally less than a ten-minute drive from both our apartment and the museum where I work. I get to visit Lily at each afternoon during my lunch break to nurse her and cuddle her for a few moments. I find her either happily engaged in some fun activity, contented in her swing, or sleeping peacefully in her crib. She's never fussy or upset, and the caregivers and other children seem genuinely happy to see her in the mornings. And, because our families are in El Paso, I really feel like Lily has a little surrogate familia there.
  • Carl. There's no one else I'd rather share this crazy, full adventure with. He adores Lily and I can't help but fall more in love with him when I see them together.
it's love.
  • Graduate school. In August, I had decided that I'd only be taking one class this semester, because two three-hour courses a week, on top of work and a newborn would be too much. Unfortunately, however, I found out that financial aid wouldn't cover the cost of only one class. So, I begrudgingly wrote an email to my program director letting her know that I would be taking a break until Spring. A few hours later, she wrote back to let me know that because I am one of the best students in the program (her words, not mine!), she found me a scholarship so that I'd be able to take one class and not derail my graduation date. It was a huge, unexpected blessing and though it's tough to juggle it all, I'm so grateful for the challenge.

  1. Darling, thank you for the shout out. It's such a nice gesture...
But, Mi amor, we simply facilitate some things for you... the rest you do on your own.:) And, any little bit that we do do, it's a pleasure and it's well deserved!
I am very proud of both of you for stepping up so beautifully to this beautiful journey of parenthood! Love you too much and miss you just as much! Besos mi amor!

Thank you for visiting! I love receiving comments and try my very best to respond to each of them.
