Adventures in Eating

Thursday, September 15, 2011

A few weeks ago, Carl, Lily and I tried out a hip little restaurant in Southtown, an even hipper little arts and food district about ten minutes south of our apartment. The Monterey is beautiful, and their happy hours specials are pretty great. The food is prepared entirely from locally-grown ingredients and is served tapas style, so the plates are small, and they're pretty...interesting, to say the least. We were feeling adventurous, so we split a goat meatball and feta dish and a plate of lengua. Goat meatballs? Delicious. Lengua? Not so much. But we had fun anyway. I hear their bacon grilled cheeses are to die for, so perhaps next time we'll stick to the sandwich board.

you can't tell from this photo, but the patio was gorgeous, green and strung with lights.

 mmm...goat meatballs!

lengua. nice to photograph. icky to eat. i think it was the texture... just as you'd expect.

The atmosphere, weather and company were just perfect, and we managed to get a bunch of really cute shots of our family. No one can believe how perfectly contented and quiet she is when we're out; she is such a joy to bring along!

she rules the roost and she knows it.

i love this photo of our family. too bad Lily is looking down!

smelling her sweet baby breath, of course.

a tasty fist!

And later, a sleepy baby.
